Description:
During the summer of 2024 the long trap is a floating steel scaffold next to the eastern lifting tower of the ferry port on Texel . This trap plays a crucial role in the safe mooring of TESO ferries. The work was aimed at repairing damage and strengthening the steel structure.
List of activities:
- Welding dozens of cracks in the uprights of the scaffolding
- Development and placement of temporary storage containers to keep welders and preservatives out of the water
- Performance of MT and UT studies on welding repairs and steel profiles
- Local treatment and three-layer preservation of all repair sites
Result:
The hatch is fully restored within five weeks, without any inconvenience to the ferry service. These interventions will ensure the structural safety of the docking plant for the coming years.
